Good news for Singaporeans in 2025! The government has announced a one-time cash payout of up to S$850 as part of the enhanced Assurance Package. This is to help cushion the impact of rising living costs and the recent GST hike.
If you’re wondering whether you’re eligible, when the money will come in, or what you need to do, this article has everything explained clearly for you.
WHAT IS THE S$850 CASH PAYOUT?
The S$850 is a direct cash payout — not a voucher, not a rebate — real cash that will be transferred straight into your bank account. It’s part of the Assurance Package 2025 and meant to support lower- to middle-income Singaporeans dealing with higher daily expenses after GST increased to 9% in 2024.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To qualify for the cash payout, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Be a Singapore Citizen as of 31 December 2024
- 21 years old or above in 2025
- Assessable Income (AI) for 2023 tax year must be:
- Up to S$34,000 – you will receive S$850
- S$34,001 to S$100,000 – you will receive S$600
- Above S$100,000 – not eligible
- Own not more than one property
This tiered payout ensures those who need it the most will receive the highest support.
WHEN WILL THE MONEY BE PAID?
The payout will be credited between 15 August and 31 August 2025. If your bank account details are updated and verified, the money will go straight into your bank account.
DO I NEED TO APPLY?
Nope! You don’t need to apply. If you meet the criteria, the payout will be automatically processed. Just make sure your bank details and contact information are up to date.
Here’s how to make sure everything’s in order:
- Update your bank details at go.gov.sg/updatebank
- File your 2023 taxes with IRAS to ensure eligibility
- Ensure your mobile number and email are updated to receive alerts
If your bank info is missing or outdated, you may receive the payout via GovCash, which can be withdrawn at OCBC ATMs using your NRIC and facial verification.
WHY THIS MATTERS
With daily expenses rising — from groceries to transport to medical bills — this payout offers real, flexible financial help. Whether you’re supporting your parents, raising a young family, or planning ahead, this is timely support for all eligible Singaporeans.
Previous rounds of Assurance Package support have proven useful for over 80% of Singaporeans according to public feedback, and this year’s boost aims to go even further.
